I used to live near the top of Bay Park, near corner of Milton and Burgener. The freeway noise is non-existent during the day. At night, after the fireworks, if the wind is calm you can hear the freeway. Sounds like a distant river or white noise. TOwards the bottom of the hill (I rented a place near Chicago and Clairemont Drive) it’s very much more noticeable all day, regardless. But still primarily white noise.

Jet noise is zero. I lived in Point Loma for about a year and had to pause telephone conversations because of the jets. In the main part of Bay Park (not Overlook Heights, which faces more south towards the airport) the jet noise is about zero.

I totally agree. After reading this thread, I looked up Bay Park to see what’s all the rave is about. The location is nice.

Seriously, its a horrible place, gangs, drugs, pollution… I wouldn’t advise anyone to move there, especially when I begin looking to purchase 🙂

I used to own a company in the Rose Canyon Industrial park. Is the Blue Collar Grill still around?

Are you talking about the little shopping area in Bay Ho?

When I moved a couple of years ago the Blue Collar grill was still there. It’s just east of Morena Blvd in Bay Ho. A landmark I always saw (on the way to Costco) but never entered.

Also, with all the positive remarks,I wanted to correct a few things …
Bay Park is noisy, polluted. You hear what sounds like gun shots every night in the summer at 9:50pm. Buses drive through all the time making a bunch of noise. It’s a whole mile or two to the trolley for trips to Q.. ahem Jack Murphy or Petco Park. There’s way to many tourists wandering up the hill when they make a wrong turn looking for the MBP visitor center. The people are really mean. Those pesky breezes make you force you to break your sweatshirt out on some summer evenings. Overall it sucks. Move along, nothing to see there.

(Now, where is that 3/2 2000 s.f. house for 600K with the unobstructable view ?)

How does one distinguish Bay Ho from Bay Park? Is there a good map of neighborhood borders around here? That is something that makes it clear when someone talks about Hillcrest-City Heights-North Park-Kensington-South Park.

I can kind of tell with many of these, but not always.

OMG what did I start!!! ALL OF YOU STAY OUT OF OUR COSY QUAINT VILLAGE OF BAY PARK!!!! I want to buy something here in the next two years…sheesh 😉

FYI if you haven’t tried it, Bay Park Seafood is amazing. The ceviche and ahi poke are especially to die for….with a hefeweizen…mmmm heaven. I digress.

I believe Bay Ho is north of Balboa and Bay Park is south of Balboa. Both are on the western edge of Clairemont.

Are you referring to the Bay Park Fish Market restraurant? That is one of the places my wife and I make the 60 mile round trip to eat at from time to time 🙂

Gang Bay Park

Is this the area off of Morena where all the meth heads and tweakers hang out and get wasted? Near Sea World and Clairemont drive? Bad area I would never buy there. Why not a decent area like Carlsbad, Encinitas or Del Mar? At least they are nice areas and do not have gangs.

The BP area definately has its share of crime, but the key is buying in the right areas. The closer you get to the Sports Arena area and SD river, the tweaker/homeless ratio ratchets up significantly. But gangs? You sure you’re just not seeing kids in baggy pants and associating them with being in a gang? 🙂 There are definately issues in Linda Vista and central/northern Clairemont, but that is not Bay Park. Isn’t is safe to say that there are these issues in the areas bordering Carlsbad as well? If proximity to bad neighborhoods was an absolute factor in pricing/neighborhood quality, it would seem to be that Coronado wouldn’t be very desirable, right?

And comparing Bay Park with Del Mar? Huh? Little apples to oranges dont you think? I wouldn’t mind living in La Jolla or on Mt. Soledad too, but thats even more beyond my price range than BP at current prices…
