I can’t for one minute believe that those who got the sweetheart deals didn’t know. Oh, sure, they may have covered their tracks for deniability. And I can believe that they might not have known the specifics of what they were getting, but I guarantee they knew they were getting special treatment.
It just isn’t credible to say that Mozilo would personally give favors to these people and not be sure that they knew. After all, the only point of giving these guys favors would be with hopes that they would look on you and your lobbying favorably.
Mind you I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if investigators are unable to prove any of this. And I’m more than willing to question the validity of the news report. (Just because it’s printed on the web, don’t make it so) But to suggest that if Mozilo gave these guys favors, that he did so without tipping his hand to those that received the favors seems extremely unlikely to me.

It is just hard to believe that some of those fools would take a bribe for only a few thousand dollars. I thing it just shows how little they really understand the industry they make legislation for.
