You forgot, “Hire illegal immigrants to work for your taco stand and let the state pick up the tab for their kids education and health care.”
*Thats* why CA is bankrupt. Corrupt small businesses abusing illegal immigrants and those same immigrants abusing public resources.
===============BINGO!!!!
And for those of you who don’t believe this, get a job in a large, public school district, or work for a public/county hospital, or become a prison guard, etc.
I’d venture 90% of our state’s economic problems would go away if they would finally address the problem with illegal immigrants.
Not saying we have to deport all of them, and I am NOT scapegoating the people who are trying to come here for a better life — I’d probably do the same if in their shoes. BUT, if we are going to import labor from other countries, we need to be sure that they follow ALL laws, and that their employers follow all laws (including tax and other employment laws).
Again, this is not a personal issue, but an economic one. We cannot continue to bury our heads in the sand WRT the costs of illegal immigration.

-Eliminate any and all public benefits to illegal immigrants.
-If American employers choose to hire illegal immigrants, they must agree to pay for ALL of their (and their familys’) healthcare, education, legal, and other expenses.
Let’s see how compassionate and “pro-immigrant” they really are.

And things like tainted baby formula, unlike China who just killed off a few babies by putting the same chemical in their infant formula that killed off some dogs/cats a year or so ago. The FDA does more than approve drugs, they monitor the manufacturers of drugs, devices and diagnostics to make sure they aren’t doing something potentially lethal.
