Allan from Fallbrook
Participant
Allan, absolutely. I want diligence and deliberation. but that’s not what I see the GOP doing. just seem like there’s a lot of fear-mongering to kill the bill.
OCR: No disagreement from me whatsoever. As I opined earlier, the GOP is blowing a golden opportunity here, and not in a good way.

ParticipantFrom what I have seen, this was slapped together then rushed to be voted on without input from other Dems and the GOP. The matter of who has even read it came up if you remember. They have the majority and the President has said a couple of times that “We won”. In other words get out of the way. The proposed bill is dated July14th.
Then they went on vacation and to have meetings with their constituents. At these town halls they said stuff like; We have to get this done quick, No public funds will pay for abortions, You will always be able to keep the plan that you have, Cutting $500 billion from Medicare won’t affect you and The plan will save money just to name a few. None of these passed the smell test.
People are skeptical of government. Question authority was a popular bumper sticker. We should all be part of the political process so why does anyone care if there is a debate? This is a passionate issue by definition. If they can’t run a meeting with 200 of their constituents then how can they run health care? Roberts Rules should be standard.
The people could be Libertarians, Green Party, Peace Party, Independent or GOP. They all have the right to participate.
