paramount, are you still at that same place? i was in a similar situation and got the axe a few weeks ago. wife keeps telling me to think of it as a vacation, and i cant. a vacation is finite and you have something to go back too. my advice to you (which is what i should have done) is to look hard (i looked, but not hard enough) for a job while you are employed. take a vacation to do it…you know get the resume cranking, cover letter going, think about interview questions, and start interviewing.that last year was the worst year of my career. and i didnt realize how toxic it was until i was gone.

August 30, 2010 at 9:09 PM #597696greekfireParticipantI wish I could do something like that. I don’t think I was hard-wired for it in my younger days before marriage and children. I did pack up my car and move cross-country, but that’s different. UCG and others give some sage advice. I guess you could always take a crash course in whatever high-tech field to help get caught up on the time spent away. I say go for it. Like someone told me before I moved out here; it might not work out, but you’ll always regret it if you don’t give it a shot. Best of luck to you either way.
