As long as the Fed keeps interest rates below the market and prints money, other forms of money: commodities, metals, oil; will continue to climb. I have been using gold as a hedge against the dollar, no matter if it fails or not the gold will allow me to pay my bills or carry my wealth with me if I choose to leave the country…with the rest of the family.
In the last 6 years I have turned 10% of my wealth into these hard unmanipulated by govt assets. I am also stocking up on food, bullets, guns, farmland, fuels and now thinking about rental houses. The plan is to not put EVERYTHING into one basket, hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. I don;t see a complete catastrophic crash, but I see some huge corrections coming up in many bubble areas…especially the fiat currencies. have something to trade, gold silver, booze, food, bullets, etc. All are worthy of trade depending on the situation.
To each his/her own. My plan:
1. Purchase silver/gold coins a little bit every month
2. When shopping, pick up double of any durable goods, paper products, canned food, etc
3. Have basic tools around, double them as well
4. Bullets, 1000 rounds minimum per gun, 5000-10000 rounds for the small stuff, 2 of each gun, 22 and shotgun are primary, deer rifle
5. Have 3-6 months emergency fund, partial in gold/silver is good as well, same goes for food, build it up consistently
6. Look for land, rentals, etc. as long as the interest rates are irrationally low, buy with minimum down
7. Help others in your family in need…this may be #1
8. Gasoline in 5 gal cans, at least one extra full tank for each vehicle.
9. Water, have three sources outside the plumbing system, have a filter, etc. Should have done this due to the Fukushima radiation anyways.
10. Get in shape, walk/run, some weights, work in the yard
11. Plant a Garden, any size will do, have some seeds around
12. If at all possible, get out of the high population centers, they could lose it!April 23, 2011 at 7:18 AM #688781AnonymousGuestAs long as the Fed keeps interest rates below the market and prints money, other forms of money: commodities, metals, oil; will continue to climb.
