Bressi Ranch ‘Group Home’ for Mentally Disabled

overly-large tract houses now becoming group homes for the mentally challenged

the irony is rich!

these large houses would make fine Section 8 units as well – let’s see, Section 8 allows 2 adults per living space – in a 4500 SQFT house that probably means about 20 adults and their children

or halfway houses – probably about the same 20 adults (don’t worry, the residents have been rehabilitated)

or subdivide into illegal apartments – a large house like this probably has 3 or 4 bathrooms already – seal off some doors, throw up a wall or two and presto, 4 separate apartments

or mini-dorms – students and surfers would be happy living in this neighborhood and, if the price was right, wouldn’t mind having 30 people or so in the same house (after 20 who’s counting?)

I live in the Bressi Ranch community and I have a mentally disabled family member living with me and I also have 2 mentally disabled cousins that I grew up with, that being said I still dont want that house in my community.

Why would Carlsbad spend 800k on just one house when they could have easily provided money to other very worthy causes that need the funding. There are Drug Rehab centers,Parenting centers or even free clinics,that just 100k would fund the project for one more year. Or how about repairing our nearly 70 year old high school. How about repairing some of the streets that have pot holes that are the size of some old buicks. There are better ways that I feel my tax dollars could be used, seriously 800k for just 6 people doesnt even matter what thier issues are but thats over the top no matter how you look at it no matter your neighborhood.

Several last second notes of concern. Why arent they still living with thier families are they violent or do they have criminal records.

Why has Terry house and these 6 individuals been moved from community to community?

How can Terry house (if and when they move in)insure the safety of the children in the neighborhood?

Why did the Realtor reject 2 offers that were better than what Terry House offered?

And why did 4 of the 5 houses in escrow fall out of escrow once it was disclosed that there was a group home going in?
