When I was a little Sobmaz, about 40 years ago, these guys came by and wanted 5.00 from my Father to paint the address to our curb.
They said everyone was doing it, we would be the only ones who didn’t have it (Unlikely since everyone in the are was dirt poor) if we didn’t pay and of course it would be easier for the Fire Department and Police.
Well, I know we didn’t pay but a week later every house in the area had it painted on the curb, including ours.

June 6, 2009 at 8:16 AM #411819LuckyInOCParticipantI had one company come by and paint our curb numbers…
Our old numbers were perfectly fine.
We indicated that we did not want it done. They still painted it, only better…
They got the address wrong:
Should have been 2102
Was 2101I had to paint over it until the next company
came around a painted it correctly.
Can’t remember if I paid the second company.Luck In OC

Well this seems like a strong response for taping a sign to your stucco. But I will comment on this because of the nature of the post.
I own a legitimate curb painting and parking lot painting company. I am required to have the following things:
*carry a license with the state of California
*carry 1 million dollars of insurance for any accidents that occur on your property while working.
*carry workers compensation. Also, If I want to work in your neighborhood I wouldn’t post or drop off any kind of advertising except through paid and/or mailed advertising or via advertising to your association board.
What these guys are looking to do is make some fast, easy money. I don’t think there bad guys but there are risk involved any time someone is on your property. I knew of one case where a few guys where painting curbs and one of them was hit by an elderly resident pulling in to her driveway. The fact that she had prepaid this company was enough for attorneys to show she had a contracted with the painters. As you can imagine her home insurance had to pay for the guys injuries for a very long time. This happens more often than you would believe.
Final thoughts on this would be that you should be very careful when dealing with any person working on your property. Check with your city for authorized charities that do this service or go online and look for a licensed company. With searches like “Curb Painting San Diego” or Curb Stenciling Poway” Etc. Or if you don’t want to bother with all that maybe have a nephew or neighbor do it and pay them instead.
Good Luck
