Hi all,
I used to live in San Diego and have not been back in long time since moving up to the San Francisco/San Jose bay area in northern California. Have possible opportunity to move back to San Diego and work remote. How do San Diego real estate prices in Encinitas, PB, Point Loma and Del Mar compare to Palo Alto prices? Same or less?
Probably less in most cases although there doesn’t seem to be much inventory to pick from.

What do you mean? If you want to buy a $1.2M house for $1.4M, there is plenty of inventory !

ya right, especially SFRs…I don’t think there are many places left in CA with dropping prices
April 1, 2013 at 1:00 PM #760952bobbyParticipantdon’t know about SD area RE prices but I live 5 miles from PA. In PA proper, prices run about $800-1,000 sqft.
Hope that helpsBTW, avoid East Palo Alto. It’s the Compton of the Peninsula.
April 1, 2013 at 3:24 PM #760953flyerParticipantWe have lots of family in Northern CA, and I’d say the prices up there are somewhat higher in comparable locations.
If you’d like to make some comparisons for yourself, check out sdlookup.com, and enter the various zip codes of interest–Del Mar, 92014, Carmel Valley, 92130, Point Loma, 92106, Sunset Cliffs, 92107, West RB, (Santaluz, Crosby, 4S, etc.) 92127, RSF, 92067 etc. etc.
We also have family or own property in these zip codes, and this is a fast way to make some good comparisons, providing you have the comps for the bay area. This will also give you some idea of what the inventory looks like.

Good one on April Fools Day bobby or I would have thought not only are you a snob but a racist to….
April 1, 2013 at 6:15 PM #760955bobbyParticipantit’s racist/snob to say that some particular locale is unsafe?
also, go back to some of my earlier posts.April 1, 2013 at 7:03 PM #760956desmondParticipant
it’s racist/snob to say that some particular locale is unsafe?

April 1, 2013 at 7:25 PM #760957spdrunParticipantSpanish Harlem has more Latinos than neighborhoods south of it. It’s also less safe on average. Does that make me a racist to admit that?
April 1, 2013 at 10:30 PM #760958bobbyParticipantI didn’t say it’s full of Latino or AA. I said it’s unsafe. You said it’s full of AA and Latinos. I guess it’s racist to speak truth.
Are you contesting the statement that Compton is unsafe? comparing to say… Irvine or Laguna beach?
I guess you didn’t read my post in defense of attack on the Hispanic community.
I’m fairly fluent in Spanish? Why would a racist person against Latinos take time to learn Spanish? Must be racist.
Did you know I have an AA employee? I don’t exactly know the reason for helping her get into optometry school. Must be my racist nature.ASSumptions!!!
April 2, 2013 at 7:15 AM #760962desmondParticipantYou can say what you want, I really don’t care. If you know the crime statistics in Compton and are stating facts about the crime rate there then great But if you are just bringing it up because of its reputation than think again the next time you post. If somebody called me out and I made a mistake in posting at least I would admit it, learn from it and move on.
April 2, 2013 at 9:39 AM #760963bobbyParticipantif you don’t care, I don’t care. Done!
April 7, 2013 at 8:07 PM #761084mixxalotParticipantCool thanks. Compared to decent areas of bay area like Palo Alto and Mountain View, San Diego is a lot cheaper unless you buy ocean front property or in Rancho Santa Fe. I am looking at Encinitas as I like that area of San Diego. Since I am finishing my pilot license, an airpark home near Palomar airport would be perfect.
