My girlfriend (a bankruptcy attorney)has made 11 offers on downtown condos, all bank-owned. Several went to all cash offers. Her most recent attempt/offer was turned down by the bank, which really surprised her realtor. I guess the bank is in no hurry to sell.

Have these offers been at list price or at current comps? Are there any sites you use for quick ballpark comps? I know MLS is probably best, but let’s say you just want to do a quick check. Zillow has been seen as pretty suspect in the past. Have they made any improvements? Is Redfin a good alternative? Do you use the last 3 months or the last six months?

Seems like making an all cash offer, at a fair price, with a sub 2 week closing is the only way to get one of the few quality REO properties.
