Are they reassessing everyone in SD County or…

…just those of us who applied for property tax reasessments, with comps, etc.? We got our letter from Gregory Smith yesterday, agreeing that our house temporarily (in bold face) is now only worth xxx. Interestingly, when you apply, they ask you “How much do you think your house is worth?” We gave a number and that’s EXACTLY how much they reassessed it for. Wish we had put an even smaller amount!

Notes: Please excuse typos, etc. It’s still not even 6:30 a.m., but like many people who are middle aged, it doesn’t matter if it’s a holiday. Our bods wake us up early. Nevertheless, I am still foggy at this time, just as I am every day. Oh, and we are not in the FB category.

My understanding is the assessor’s office is already swamped with the number of reassessment requests, let alone be doing this for everyone else. Someone that I talked to from the office said they were already months behind.

My assessment still has gone up this year.

When I called, they said they had 13,000 applications for reassessment. I am kind of surprised that when we applied, they said we’d hear back in early July…and we did…yesterday, July 3rd.
