No there has been no notice of default or any other “funny” mail coming to my house.

I do not understand how I would get 9-12 months free if it forecloses but would like to learn more. 🙂

Nothing will come to you personally. It will all go directly to the owner of the home. So the home could very well be in default. You can look up that information as it is public record. I think that 9-12 month statement by hawk is somewhat speculative.
