Includes 23 lots and the 3 houses.
Sadly, it is in the “wrong” school district.

Participant$9 mil is about right, but the seller needs to pay for the demolition and removal of the three houses. Then you can build 26 nice Sorrento Valley houses and sell them at $650k-$700k each.
Who is this ROB QUIKLEY? I wonder what this architech was thinking.

This is the kind of design concept that is very popular in architecture schools, I’m not sure why. They had us do designs like this when I went.
What really confuses me is the way the back yard appears to have a high spot in the back corner farthest from the house with the entire yard sloping directly towards the bend in the L shaped house. Seems exactly backwards of what would be optimal.

Hahahaha … That’s $350K for each plot. How much do $700K Sorrento Valley houses cost to build, when you build 26 at once? Maybe you could build them for $100/sf? $300K build cost each? Take away commissions to buyers, and you are left with almost no profit. How long would a clump of 26 houses sit on the market in Sorrento Valley?Raw land ain’t worth jack on the open market.

Rob Quigley is also responsible for the “man castle” at Cedar & Columbia.
I wouldn’t let him design my house, but he is well known in the San Diego architecture community for having an unconventional style.

ParticipantWow, how ugly. Figure’s they’re Quigleys. I know he wins awards all the time, but I freaking hate everything he does. His designs are usually super cluttered with way too many competing textures at work. He either has ADD or feels a compulsive need to throw everything but the kitchen sink into everything he designs. His HQ in Little Italy is a pretty good example of Rob Quigley Awfulness.
This and its neighbors actually show a surprising amount of restraint. Still not my cup of tea, though.
Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. I feel much better now.

I would be careful on any purchase of these. It looks like the uphill/inward houses are being sold before the downhill/canyon facing houses get built. Looking at the architecture style, it is likely the houses that would be built across the street would have cut into the views of these houses.
Outside is a bit bizzare, the grey one looks more interesting architecturally. The view from the inside is nice though. They look like they have an almost ‘vertical’ floorplan, where each ‘floor’ is a different part of your house. Imagine your present house sectioned so that you have to go up or downstairs for the next room – not just across the hall. Worth over $3Mil, I think not.
NOTE: Looks like the south facing windows are not double-paned either. With all that glass – going to get toasty.
