You make snow sound like a bad thing. How can an ex skier make snow sound like a bad thing?
It reminds me of the Benjamin Franklin quote…
“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
only I would say,
“Snow is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
Winter storms are something to savor, preferably with a good wife, a wood stove, and some skis when it calms down.

jstoesz, I’m not an “ex-skier,” I’m a “current skier” (with appropriate ace bandages and velcro, lol). Snow is very fun to “play in.” It’s NOT fun to navigate thru in daily life.

I ditched the MM tracts, because MN just doesn’t have the asian population to support the demographic comparison. So I took a near by Linden hills neighborhood and looked for a comparable in SD. In the NY times demographic link.
http://projects.nytimes.com/census/2010/explorer?ref=us
Mission hills tract 1
median income 112k
88 white
9 hispanic
2 asian
median home price 1 mil
% of household spending more than 30% of their income 52%Minneapolis tract 106 (south end of lake harriet)
median income 116K
88 white
2 black
1 hispanic
7 asian
median home price 530k
% of household spending more than 30% of their income 35%I think both neighborhoods are very similar in terms of character, home age and architecture, and proximity to amenities. I have lived very near to both, and if they were the same price, I would be hard press to say which is better. The Minneapolis neighborhood has easier to access recreation and a better community lifestyle, but MH has better weather (for what its worth).
I think the last number is most telling…Mission hills is not full of a bunch of retirees, at least not in comparison to the Minneapolis neighborhood. Its irresponsibility is systemic.
