I would definitely suggest looking just south on the south side of Via Rancho Parkway in Lomas Serena’s. Not gated but lots of 1 story homes on large lots. It’s a great and IMHO better community. My sister lived there and loved it. My niece went to LR Green elementary and my sister felt it was better than the school she switched to in Poway school district when they moved to Rancho Bernardo. She is on her way to a PhD in Physics so I think she turned out fine.
LR Green and I think the other one is named La Costa are (from what I have heard) the two best elementary schools in that district.
I saw the elementary school’s API and it’s pretty good, middle and high school within the boundary area is not that great in terms of API…
I like this area bc it’s gated, however there are HOA dues of $190.00, I don’t even think there’s a community pool or tennis court.
Price is decent bc the homes are newer, I m looking to stay around 550k
If this is the area you are looking do yuourself a favor and check out Lomas Serenas. My sisters next door neighbor was a cardiologist. Mark O’Meara (a top ranked and very famous professional golfer) lived across the street. Big lots and low hoa’s. Much nicer than the cookie cutter neighborhood you are looking at.
You should definitely consider sdr’s suggestion. Take a look at some of the other homes around there with the **much** nicer lots, and a better feel to the neighborhood (IMHO).
