Shakedown? Bwahahahaha… What planet do you live on, man? DEMOCRACY is an organized, legalized shakedown! Have you ever heard of the “Tyranny of the Majority”? The (relatively poorer) majority votes to take resources from the (relatively richer) minority. That’s where progressive tax rates and redistribution come from. And if you’re in the (relatively richer) minority, you accept these things because the alternative – revolution (Where ALL of your shit gets confiscated and/or is rendered worthless) – is even less attractive.
Galt’s Gulch was a fine literary device… but it’s fiction. Here in the real world we realize that the division of economic resources involves a system of unpleasant trade-offs.
