When I bought a hud repo in 92 the neighbors warned me that there was someone in the area who claimed to own the house. This person never had!
Sure enough the person, seemed like a transvestite, came up to me when I was working in the yard and said it was her/his house. I was very polite and said I was sorry about the confusion but that I had paid for it, and could I get her/him something to drink since it was so hot. The answer was “no thanks” and that was the last I ever heard about it.
The moral of the story is that it may happen more than we want to know about.I see kids in my neighborhood, whose parents were foreclosed on,going back to the vacant property all the time. I have also heard of other cases. Enough, that I have warned buyers about it,as a fairly remote possibility, when dealing with foreclosures.Food for thought.
