Well, no one likes to admit that managers would probably pick a single guy to lay off vs. one who has a wife and kids. Also, aren’t married people the minority anyway these days?
As a side note, this paragraph from the article disturbs me and seems in line with Obama’s new education agenda:
“Another possible but more expensive step would be greater provision of childcare. Increasing the length of the school day, lowering the starting age and reducing school vacations might all help.”
