We use AVIS since it’s walking distance from our place, but last time we went to LAX, we used AVIS on the way up and Alamo on the way back. Way better than using a shuttle, and relatively cheap too! With AVIS, when you drop off at the airport, they meet you at the car with a scanner, so you don’t even go in, you just hop on the shuttle. Don’t know how the other rental places are though.
