We have a Bosch dishwasher and highly, highly recommend them. Even though the kitchen is adjacent to the kitchen, I don’t even know it is running until is purges water. We are tickled with it.
I had the same problem you did when searching for appliances – many people seemed to love and many people seemed to hate each brand. My wife fell in love with a Viking cooktop which had mixed reviews online. We bought it anyway and it has been just fine for over 2 yrs now.
I say buy what you like. I personally don’t think there is a great deal of difference in reliability.
