This is what you said, “Preuss, are you serious? They are a prime example of what’s wrong with charter schools, rampant cheating and fraud.”
If it’s as bad as you’re trying to make it out be, why is it still open and why didn’t the district pull their charter? I’ve seen incidents like this before to know I don’t trust everything I read from the news paper. They have their bias too. I’ve also see charter school getting their charter pulled for less than what you’re trying to insinuate they did, cheating and fraud. Name be another public school that have AP participation of 100%, each students taking an average of 4.7 AP classes with a pass rate of 31% and College Readiness Index of 95.8%? I guess USNEWS didn’t do their research before they vote Preuss as #10 top High School, or the California education system that vote them to be a California Distinguished School in 2007. I can go on, but you get my view of your accusation.
Maybe you should reread the post where I brought up Preuss. When you do, you’ll see that I used Preuss as an example of students with poor parents can do just as well in school if they’re driven and the environment permits it. Grade inflation does not always mean the teacher give your student the grade they don’t deserve. It could also mean the teacher don’t care, give such easy tests that you have to be pretty dumb to not get an A. I’ve been through the SDUSD from elementary on up and I can tell you, some teachers just doesn’t care and will just regurgitate the lesson plan the district give them. You can breeze through those classes without even paying attention and still get an A.
What you’re saying then is API scores are meaningless, since these stupid students at Preuss who got their grade w/out deserving it are still kicking ass in those tests. Is that your reasoning for insinuating school like Preuss are junk? As a parent, I’d take school like Preuss any day of the week over schools in Mira Mesa or worse. If you’re gonna crap on a good school by insinuating that they’re only “good” because their grade are fake, then take that same yardstick and measure the public schools in SDUSD.
