They’re subsidized by SDG&E somehow, so you’re getting them way below cost. I used these years ago when they first came out and they burned out faster than a string of cheap Christmas lights (except they cost about as much as a Christmas tree back then), so I gave up on them, but I figure that for 25c each, you can’t go wrong.
I read on the Energy Star site that you should leave them on for at least 15 minutes each time you use them to extend their life.
