There’s no denying that the iPod changed the MP3 market. With regarding to OS, AAPL have been making OS for as long as MSFT did. OSX is just their latest attempt to come back and it did the best out of all their other attempts. However, Windows, even with all its flaws still have the strangle hold on the OS market. For work, we have Macbook Pro, but guess what OS we use… Windows XP. Also, in your eyes, you might think OSX is the best UNIX OS out there, but I think Ubuntu is much better. I used OSX for a month or so and can’t stand it. It try to dumb down everything and it annoys the hell out of me. Ubuntu on the other hand can be as dumb as you want it to be, or as tweakable as you want as well.
Like I said, iPhone is doing well in the US but it’s floundering in Asia because feature wise, it’s a light weight. AAPL also doesn’t have the same brand power over there as it does over here, so their product have to sell on their own merit, and it’s not doing well. I associate AAPL to BMW, they’re good, but not nearly as good as their marketing department hyped it up to be.
GOOG and MSFT are never really the first of anything either. So, yes, they all are good, but I don’t buy into the AAPL hype. We’ll see who will win the smart phone market. My bet is on GOOG. iPhone is a great single product, but w/ Android, it can be on MOTO, Sony-Ericsson, LG, Samsung, HTC, etc phones. I doubt iPhone can outsell them all combined.
