The other driver is obviously a moron; at any rate as for a new car I would stick with what is reliable and will last: Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda – basically anything Japan or Korea based.
BMW’s are great driving machines, but the maintenance and repair costs – as I understand – will suck you dry.
If I were looking for a good performing car, with a reasonable price and great reliability I think there is only one choice:
2010 Mazda Speed3 (mid 20’s at the most…)
0-60 in about 6 seconds
14 second 1/4 mile
Excellent interiors
Out handles a 370Z and Porsche Cayan
Strong safety ratings
