The corona virus epidemic shows the PRC is rotten to the core. There are real structural issues inherent with the top down authoritarian system that’s preventing reform. Remember Xi came in as a reformer, but the stagflation of the last few years and deep seated problems with the SOEs trapped him into this downward spiral of progressive totalitarianism and movement to full Nazi mode.
China ultimately needs to be broken up into multiple smaller states that can evolve and democratize much like S Korea and Taiwan. Eventually when timing is right these smaller countries can come together much like the EU.
