Forget all the usual merely annoying problems I just mentioned as they don’t apply to this model year. I would just get the timing belt/water pump replaced if it hasn’t been done. I wouldn’t take it on a long trip until that job was done. Your son doesn’t want to have any sudden overheating problems that could have been avoided. The cost for the repair of both starts at about $1275.
Your son’s car still has the longer body before they made it “bubbly” looking and appeared to shove some of the big trunk under the back seat :=]
