Sd_matt: Bingo. Of course, Brian never served in the military, so what do you expect.
Standard US Army doctrine: “No Plan Survives Contact” (or put better by George Foreman: “Everyone has a plan. Then they get hit”).
Afghanistan was “under resourced” to use the new catchphrase and the previous strategy was not a good one.
Putting McChrystal in charge was a good move, but now failing to follow his advice is a bad move.
And, yeah, Brian, the military really is a bunch of crybabies. What an asshole comment. Next time you see a soldier, sailor or Marine, shake his or her hand and thank them for giving you the freedom to make truly idiotic comments like that one.
