I am with you here. It was a real pain when I did that. I am starting to remember better and better… time has a way of attenuating the more painful memories…
I don’t set *TOO* much store on schools, but it’s nice if a great majority of the parents are involved and care about the education, and they have some financial means to help that in a public school. In regards to private schools, 8-10K a year is out of the question, unless dire needs….
Thanks for making me remember how much a long commute at rush hour can suck!!![/quote]
You’re welcome. I hated every minute of it when I had to commute. Especially when I have to check Sigalert everyday before I go to/leave work.
With regards to school, go here: http://school-ratings.com/cities/San_Diego.html for API scores. Just for quick comparison: MMHS vs UCHS vs Madison HS(8 vs 7 vs 3). Challenger Middle School vs Standley Middle vs Marston Middle (9 vs 8 vs 5). There are a lot of elementary schools, so you can just check the map but in MM, one is ranked 10, 3 is ranked 9,1 ranked 8, and 1 ranked 6. Coincidentally, the area that feeds into the ranked 6 school is the worse part of MM.
FYI, they’re trying to get a new elementary school built in south west MM, corner of Flanders and Parkdale.
