[quote=Rt.66]This is just the beginning. Americans not only fail to support and demand good jobs they actually call for the “other guy” to lose his job. When that happens its only a matter of time before you become the “other guy”.
It started with the UAW. The entire country seemed to be calling for these $27 an hour long time workers to be fired and their jobs divided amongst Japan, Korea and China. Well those jobs are going bye-bye right now.
Problem is…those jobs are related to other jobs, including IT. Who would have thought huh?
The dominoes are falling and the interconnectivity is just beginning to unravel.
I said it before and here it goes again. Until Americans wake up and start acting like the Europeans, demanding good jobs and blocking roads and kidnapping CEOs to get the point across, then we are at the mercy of TPTB.
Alas, we are young country, still nieve in that we believe the Elite have our best interest at heart and that fairness and equality will rule the day, when it comes down to MY job (but..f@ck the other guy’s job).
Here is an interesting post concerning IT from another blog:
—————-
“Doesn’t Microsoft already outsource? Isn’t that the sole reason for their intensive lobbying operation? I.E. to maintain the flow of H1Bs and any other possible way to depress software wages?
Personally, I think IT employees deserve to have their jobs outsourced. As a Software developer myself now for many years I am convinced that even a monkey could write better code than 99% of the engineers in the US despite the fact that writing code is the easily the easiest job I have ever had. IT and software have got to be the most over hyped professions in the history of professions.”

When they came for my neighbors job I said nothing (heck I cheered his demise), when they came for my friends job I said nothing. When they came for MY job there was no one to say anything in my support.
Spare us the posts trying to convince us that US IT workers are different and can’t be outsourced and don’t need no help, please:)
Not to make lite of your unemployment situation mixxalot, I feel for you and will always hope for and defend your right to a good job in this country. You wanna do a roadblock? I’m in!

Whatever Scarlet….Spare us the doom and gloom. Clearly, this industry is out of your league, and posting one disgruntled workers opinion is an interesting approach to providing data.
Mixalot, you wanted leads, you got them. What you do with them is completely up to you. Ball’s in your court.
