Not surprised. Unless you are in one of those “protected groups” (things that churn out patents or R&D to the main product lines), you have a pretty big risk
“safest” jobs
1: R&D, particularly if you work in a group churning out patents left and right
2: Legal
3: Systems/Testing/Integration
Most risky jobs
1) I.T.
2) Marketing (lower level)
3) Engineers on a non-core business product/service which skills are not easily transferable across departments. That would me anyone that writes application level software there versus embedded…
