Surfer injured in first shark attack of 2009 A surfer was rushed to the hospital yesterday after suffering a shark inflicted gunshot wound on Harbor Drive in Downtown San Diego.
The shark followed 41 year old Brian Smith in a taxi from Point Loma to 2732 Harbor Drive where he shot Smith in the knee. The shark was apparently angered when Smith accidently bumped him on the nose with his board while surfing that morning. Unable to attack Smith in the water, the shark, armed with a 9mm handgun, decided to hail a cab to chase after Smith.
