Not that I am not in favor of the flying car, but traditionally at least in SoCal, Suburbs are built on what used to be farmland, ie.. San Fernando Valley, Valencia, Rancho California, most of Encinitas and Carlsbad, so where you going to get your eats from without the roads, water, etc ?
Anyway I think Australia had it right, they still have burbs and a car culture but they don’t have freeways for the most part, they only use the cars for the weekend mostly going to the market etc…, during the week they ride the train and trams etc…
One last point, walking the store gets real old when you have to buy groceries for 5 or 6 (part of the scale thing).
