I’m in the same situation. I relocated to San Diego a little over a year ago.
After looking around, i was thinking Bay Ho or Clairemont due to location (i grew up in Palos Verdes, so i can’t be too far inland), hoping prices would come down. Anything decent in those areas are still 600k, which is double what i think they should be, but those are old homes as well that would need 100k in upgrades.
I just hate the thought of living in Poway, 4s Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Valley…just too suburban/inland for me, but i may have to do it. School districts aren’t an issue for me, because my wife insists on a Catholic education for the kids, but you do get more for your money off the 15 freeway.
I still have a year to figure things out, but 4S ranch isn’t looking as bad as it once was.
