“Massive” property taxes in California? Not really. Try living in a state like Wisconsin – about 5% annual, and you get reassessed EVERY year. Texas is bad too. And New York? Fugetaboutit! They have all the high income and sales tax of CA, plus a property tax rate of anywhere from 4-7% depending on your county and regular reassessments.
Low property taxes is about the only thing that California has going for it when it comes to taxation.
