Many of the same issues in this year’s general election were on the front burner in the general election of 36 years ago. Whatever really happened that night at Chappaquiddick that he was never quite able to live down, it is clear from this speech that Ted Kennedy truly did love his country. May he (and Mary Jo Kopechne) R.I.P.
