I am so glad I’m a homeowner… where my total cost of ownership (including that “big check”!) is 25% less than what I’d be paying for rent (thanks for the low-rate refi, Bernanke!)… and I never have to worry about my “rent” increasing.
My point: Where you stand depends upon where you sit.
