jstoesz – you know I really like you, but you can’t cherry pick the handful of fuckups out there. There are plenty of police and fire that do help the public. If you were to list the all that bad that they do and I list all the good, I think my list would be much longer. I’m not defending those who screw up. They should be punished. They are disgraceful and tarnish the name and dignity of others who are not.
I heard that story on the radio and I was shocked. The sad thing about that story is it comes down to money, it seems. “Previously we had a very highly trained water-rescue program that we could use for both shore-based and boat-and-surf water rescue,” he said. “But unfortunately, over the course of several years based on what I gather on budget issues, they pretty much decertified the program.”
But regardless, I was disgusted that no one helped. But knowing how the system works, liability and everything else… well, it sucks, no getting around it.
