jstoesz, I’m a little disappointed that there was only two communities here in your price range that you were interested in but thought the inventory available in them was crap.
If those other communities you listed were only “pipe dreams,” then they are fun to visit but not “reality” for you.
I was just polling you because your OP essentially states that you are leaving because you did not see yourself ever being able to purchase an acceptable property here to live in.
Kinda like an “exit poll.”
I’m not an ambassador for SD County or anything but if there are only two communities here that you would consider purchasing in and both are “crap,” then you are doing the right thing by relocating, imho.
If your jobs work out in Sac County, then I have no doubt you can find something more to your liking for what you want to pay (<$300K?) in either Sac, Placer or El Dorado Counties. This part of CA has historically been MUCH less expensive that coastal counties. When you begin shopping, you might even be shocked at what you can buy there that is within your price range.
