Jp: Except, love makes idiots of us all. Your point is well taken and should be obvious, save the fact that it isn’t.
There’s that great expression: “The triumph of hope over experience”, which explains (or attempts to explain) the man/woman who gets married five times, or how anyone of us rational/logical/thinking beings meanders into a situation that should be obvious but somehow isn’t.
Love and its attendant emotions make reducing this to an understandable equation nearly impossible, which explains why folks continue to get married, even though they’re aware that the failure rate is in excess of 50%. “It’s different this time”. Sound familiar?
