The fools in office do not deserve a raise, but I think the panel is hopping to get qualified candidates to run in the future.

I did say they got a raise eventually. The last time before that when they got a raise was like before 2000. I want to say like in the 1990’s sometime. That’s when there was negotiation and the City said in lieu of raise, they’d put more money in the pension, which they didn’t do.
So in the end, that equates to the last time they got a raise was before the pension deal, which means no raise until 2007 when they got 9%, which may seem like a lot, but hardly makes up for all the years they didn’t get a raise while they were tricked into thinking the extra money was going into the pension. They got screwed.
I know there’s always the issue about firefighters and/or police and how much they make, but so much of that is years in service and overtime. Seriously, those guys make their job their life and career and many times their lives even get cut short. So the pension for life is sometimes a shorter one.
