It seems to me that the issue is not whether or not the information is public but what is the intent behind showcasing it with accusations. Was it reckless? Most of the stuff was probably true, but a mistake can be made or the wrong person can be offended.
I have no doubt OCRenters intentions, in his mind were noble, but I would hate to see a judge decide on it. People have rights that preclude this type of stuff.
It seems to me keeping the “private” in private detective is a good idea. That doesn’t just mean conceal your identity, but also that of those you might investigate.
