In addition, when the commision did this evaluation, they considered San Diego’s Cost of Living. If raises were based on COL, everyone here is entitled to a raise.
They need salaries high enough to attract qualified candidates? Is San Diego such an undesireable City that we couldn’t attract a qualified person?
Basing salaries on comparable California cities should not be considered. I’m sure there are many other city workers who could make more money in, say, Fresno.
They compared the salaries to Police Chief and Fire Chief. Is that comparing apples to apples? Exactly how many years have the Police Chief and Fire Chief served before they got in the positions they were in?
Basing salary on heavy responsibilities. If one feels the job has too many responsibilities for the salary, why run for the job in the first place.
Seriously, this would be tolerable if the City’s finances were thriving, but I think this is just unacceptable now.
