If you’re looking at $10-12 per sq foot you might consider putting in solid wood instead of laminate. To do this, you are best off buying the wood and having it milled (Frost Hardwoods on Miramar is probably the best place for this) and then hiring someone to install it. Some installers prefer to have the wood delivered and then allow it to acclimate before installing, others prefer to install it as soon as it’s milled. (I think the later choice makes more sense if you’re near the beach, since the tongue in groove can swell and be hard to install) Be sure you have everything planned and scheduled before they mill the boards.
