I’d call public transportation more than ‘a hassle’. I don’t know about you but spending 4 hours a day to commute 20 miles in each direction is a pretty piss poor quality of life.
Do you have an extra 4 hours a day to get to and from work?
Why do you live 20 miles from work? Let me guess, you either have a McMansion or a McMarpment. I chose to rent a reasonably-sized place 10 minutes from work. I’m sure you could do the same.
Approximately 60% of the gas used in this country is used for a single person to drive themselves to work. We could all buy smaller vehicles, live in smaller places closer to work, or live with roommates.
San Diego is the perfect place to use a scooter. Could you imagine how much more pleasant your commute would be if everyone was driving a scooter? We’d immediately quadruple the capacity of our highways. Commuting would be a veritable dream!
Doubling the price of gasoline won’t kill anyone. It will just force us all to stop wasting resources with impunity and destroying the environment. I look forward to many more days where the price of oil jumps $10/barrel/day.
