I think that trump thinks that he can just say, “do it our way or fuck you” to the rest of the world, and the rest of the world will respond with, “oh my god! We better do it their way!”
That seems to be his idea of “America first.”
The state department, with all its experience in international affairs, knows that won’t work. So trump wants to cut them out of the loop.
