I think it is pretty certain that if asset and income are part of the a required “hardship” claim all short sellers are not going to be honest about those. Also,since this post started off with a case where a seller was telling a buyer he really “wasn’t in trouble”, without accusing that particular individual, I would say that is information to be justifiably suspicious about.
