I personally would not go to the expense of installing rooftop antennae, but if you do remember that HD is in the UHF spectrum which means 2 things. You will need line of sight and you will probably have to rotate it to get different stations. If you live on a hill rabbit ears should do fine, if you live in El Cajon then hopefully you can see Mt.Miguel, if not you might be SOL.
