I live in Eastlake and the achievement gap between Hispanic and Asian/Filipino/White as far as API is concerned is very wide. The gap is not that much in elementary level but the gap increases toward middle school and specially high school. I looked at 3 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 2 high schools, all w/c in Eastlake area. The gap in elementary is about 50 points, middle school about 100 points and in high school about 115 points.
Elementary:
Salt Creek
Filipino – 902
Hispanic – 834
White – 873
Rancho Del Rey
Filipino – 879
Hispanic – 751
White – 844
High School:
Eastlake High
Filipino – 841
Hispanic – 718
White – 821
Olympian:
Filipino – 850
Hispanic – 733
White – n/a
Bonita Vista:
Asian – 879
Filipino – 819
Hispanic – 718
White – 821
I also noticed that Filipinos, on average, at the high school level, from these Eastlake area schools outscored their Filipino counterpart in the Poway school district:
Eastlake High Filipino – 841
Olympian Filipino – 850
Mount Carmel Filipino – 810
West View Filipino – 816
Also interesting stat that I noticed is that scores for Caucasians and Filipinos (and to less extent other Asians, not a lot of Chinese/Japanese/Koreans here in Eastlake) from these Eastlake area high schools is not that far from their counterpart in north county high schools. It’s just that being so closed to the border, the demographic in Eastlake is about 40-50% Hispanic and that bring down the overall score of these schools.
South County:
Eastlake High
Asian – n/a
Filipino – 841
White – 821
Olympian:
Asian – n/a
Filipino – 850
White – n/a
Bonita Vista:

Filipino – 819
White – 821
North County:
Scripps Ranch
Asian – 878
Filipino – 846
White – 849
Mount Carmel
Asian – 888
Filipino – 810
White – 839
Ranch Bernardo
