I figured in order to have a thread this rant filled, it had to be started by partypup, or start with Powayseller said.
IT is pretty diverse. Java is not dead, Microsoft is not the evil empire devouring the planet. Very few people seem to be hiring. Software engineering is real engineering. No you don’t have to live in CV to be an engineer. Lots of qualified people in IT don’t have any formal IT education, I happen to.
IT, is no longer the wild west/gold mine of the last few decades. Many of us will have to move to find jobs in the current recession (just like the last one.)
