I also think it has to go beyond HS API score. The middle and elementary schools have to all have rank 10 as well to have a chance at removing the stigma. Currently, 2 out of 6 elementary schools in MM have rank 10, 3 have rank 9, 1 have rank 7. The two middle schools have rank 8 & 9. But that obviously is not enough to remove the stigma.
Same issue with SEH I think. That’s why SEH sell at a discount compare to the neighboring areas.
One interesting I noticed while looking at a whole bunch of different HS with rank 8-10, I noticed that the more diverse the school, the more likely for it be be ranked 9 or 8 vs ranked 10. If you look at the Asian/White/Filipino scores between MM/Scripps/RB/Westview/Mt. Carmel/UC/etc. They all are quite similar +/- 20 points. However, those that are ranked 8&9 on that list have a higher % of black/hispanic/Socioeconomically Disadvantaged/English Learners. The more I look at the numbers in detail, the less I’m impressed with the rank 10 API schools.
